Tell Me More...
Brugmansia ‘Yellow’ is a tropical triumph, which, once seen, is never forgotten. Brugmansia are a family of South American beauties, and this particular one is sure to delight you, your friends and your neighbours as well as any passing pollinators. Fragrance is heady and sweet, with greater intensity in the evenings – just perfect for ‘al fresco’ dining. Huge, highly fragrant blooms up to 30cm long erupt from large, fascinating buds all summer and through into the autumn. Brugmansia are also known commonly as ‘Angels Trumpets’, this fast growing perennial is perfect grown in a large pot and will also make a superb centrepiece in a border. Bear in mind, if planting in the ground, your Brugmansia will need to be protected from cold and frost so, perhaps, plant the pot in the ground to make lifting easier. Brugmansia ‘Yellow’ prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil of any kind except clay. Plant in sun or partial shade. Reaching a height of around 2-3m, spreading up to 2m, these are warm temperate shrubs which need to be protected over the winter – either indoors or in a heated greenhouse.
