Known for their striking foliage and delicate blue flowers, Brunnera are commonly referred to as Siberian bugloss or false Forget-me-not. Heart-shaped leaves, adorned with intricate silvery- white markings add a touch of elegance and brightness to shaded garden areas.
This collection comprises; macrophylla ‘Alexanders Great’ – boasting larger leaves, perfect for filling out shady corners with its bold presence, height 40cm, spread 90cm; macrophylla ‘Blue Ocean’ – features similar silver foliage but with a more compact growth habit, making it ideal for smaller spaces, height 45cm, spread 40cm; and macrophylla ‘Silver Star’ - particularly prized for its frosty silver leaves with green veins, height 45cm, spread 40cm.
These perennials thrive in cool, moist, and shady environments, making them excellent ground covers or border plants. In spring, Brunnera produces clusters of small, bright blue flowers that resemble Forget-me-nots, providing a lovely contrast against the silvery foliage and heralding the arrival of warmer weather. With their low-maintenance nature and hardiness (H6), Brunnera plants are a delightful and versatile choice for garden enthusiasts.
