Unique and striking, Bidens ferulifolia ‘Samurai’ is vigorous and compact with bold, valiant daisy-like blooms from June to October. Neat mounds of fine, upright foliage to around 30cm tall are topped by a blanket of small, button-like buds on slender stems from spring to late autumn. Opening to reveal orange-red petals, each one striped with bright yellow, ‘Samurai’ creates bright, vivid displays in your summer and autumn borders, baskets, and containers.Related to a distant cousin named ‘Fern-leaved Beggarticks’ which originated from Mexico – a wonderful nectar-rich wildflower, pollinators will make a beeline to the fantastic blooms. Each plant spreads to around 60cm, filling a container and giving valuable weed-suppressing groundcover while the stems make an excellent addition to your indoor floral arrangements. Drought and heat tolerant Bidens ferulifolia ‘Samurai’ has been classified as a half-hardy annual by the RHS so will not tolerate temperatures below -5°C. Drought tolerant, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
