Tell Me More...
A simple and stylish bloom which emerges in July and continues flowering until around October time. The white tipped, lemon-yellow petals are reminiscent of sherbet filled sweets with a golden centre to crown the ensemble. Blooms are held on wiry stems, up to 1.2m in height, which will wave and sway in the breeze for animated interest in borders, dry gardens and containers. Foliage is, as the common name suggests, feather and finely divided, emerging in April and lasting through to October time. These joyful plants are a valuable source of nectar for bees and other pollinators. Once established, Bidens aurea 'Hannay's Lemon Drop' is drought tolerant enough to need little in the way of attention – meaning this Mexican wonder would also adapt well to meadow or prairie planting as well as popping into a container on the patio. Plant Bidens aurea 'Hannay's Lemon Drop' in well-drained soil of any kind and position in full sun with a south or west facing aspect. A half-hardy, herbaceous perennial which can be treated as an annual in colder areas of the UK or lifted and protected over winter. Spreads up to 90cm.
