Tell Me More...
Sure to be admired by all, Berberis thunbergii 'Coral' is a slow growing, dwarf shrub with oval shaped, vivid, orange-red summer leaves, each one delicately edged with a slender green-gold margin. The young leaves in spring have a particularly strong colour. Each spring a profusion of bright yellow, nectar-rich flowers appear which passing pollinators will enjoy. Established plants create a dense, thorny, bushy, rounded habit which birds and other wildlife enjoy, giving shelter. Know commonly as Dwarf Japanese Barberry. this shrub is perfect for adding a splash of colour to any garden, and it is also a great choice for hedging and screening. It is tolerant of most soil types, and it can be grown in full sun or partial shade although the best foliage colour will be seen if planted in a sunny position. Happy in borders or large containers, reaching a mature height and spread of around 80cm, Berberis thunbergii 'Coral' is fully hardy withstanding temperatures down to -20 C and lower.
