Tell Me More...
Truly impressive in late spring and early summer, Baptisia australis Lemon Meringue forms a vase-like shape of foliage. Strong stems rise above, becoming densely packed with an abundance of bright yellow, pea-like blooms from May to July- a feast for passing pollinators.Incredibly versatile, Baptisia australis Lemon Meringue is terrific grown amongst grasses in a prairie style planting scheme, and is equally brilliant and bold in country gardens, borders and containers, or in a modern planting scheme. The flower stems add drama to a fresh floral arrangement, however if the faded flowers are not dead headed in summer, you will be rewarded by an abundance of intriguing, inflated seed pods which is an excellent addition to winter decorations.Deer and rabbit resistant, Baptisia australis Lemon Meringue will grow to around 75-90cm in height and spread. A hardy perennial with an RHS rating of H4, which prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun. No winter protection is required in most of the UK and will die back naturally to sprout again in the spring.
