The name Agapanthus comes from the Greek words for flower and love, hence the other common name Flower of Love. Beautiful African Lilies with striking, large, round clusters of trumpet shaped flowers standing tall on strong, sturdy stems. Agapanthus make superb cut flower displays to enjoy in your home, lasting up to two weeks in a vase.Eye-catching when planted in groups, particularly when grown in containers as a feature on your patio or balcony. The blooms sit upon strappy foliage all summer and are happy in coastal areas with salty sea breezes. This collection comprises; Agapanthus Arctic Star AGM, in our opinion the best hardy white Agapanthus, the blooms are held over grey-green foliage, height and spread 1m; Agapanthus Northern Star AGM, dark blue blooms with purple stripes over glossy green foliage which is tinged purple at the base, height 1m, spread 50cm; and Agapanthus Royal Velvet AGM, purple spherical flowerheads above narrow, dark grey-green foliage, height and spread 1m.All have an RHS hardiness rating of H4 which means they will only need protection if temperatures drop below -10 C. Agapanthus prefer to be grown in well-drained soil and full sun for the best display.
