Tell Me More...
Aubrieta 'Florado Blue Blush Bicolour' offers an exciting new alternative to the dense blocks of colour usually associated with this familiar favourite. Each flower is white with a tiny greenish-yellow eye as it first opens, a powdery sky blue then appearing on petal tips and deepening over time. All stages appear on the plant simultaneously, giving a delightful swirled-paint effect. Aubrieta is a hardy, evergreen perennial which quickly forms a neat, dense, ground-hugging mat, often seen cascading over walls, spreading over rock gardens, or spilling over the edges of containers. From April to May, a dense profusion of brightly coloured flowers gives it a starring role in the garden. Plant in a sunny spot in moist yet well-draining, neutral to alkaline soil. Aubrieta does not like to sit damp, so add extra drainage if necessary. Give a light trim each year after flowering, to maintain a neat, dense cushion and prevent the middle from becoming bare and woody. H: 10cm S: 50cm. Hardy to between -15 C and -20 C.
