Tell Me More...
The longest flowering of all Astrantia and a cottage garden favourite which is equally at home in modern garden designs. Astrantia major ‘Pink Pride’ is adored by pollinators and the charming, dainty pink blooms stand proudly atop strong wiry stems up to 60cm tall from June through to August. Known as the pincushion flower, or Hattie’s Pincushion, Astrantia prefer moist, well-drained soil of any kind, and like a spot in full sun or partial shade. They are easy-going plants which require little maintenance – simply deadhead as flowers fade to encourage the possibility of second flush of blooms later in the season. Plant Astrantia major ‘Pink Pride’ in the centre to front of a border or at the edge of a pathway where the intricate blooms can be seen and fully appreciated. Blooms also make the perfect inclusion in a vase or bouquet. A fully hardy perennial that spreads to around 45cm, with an RHS rating of H7, Astrantia major ‘Pink Pride’ will thrive outside all year round with no extra winter protection required.
