Tell Me More...
Astrantia Florence is a popular cottage garden perennial that forms a delicate froth of flowers in Summer. The soft pink pincushions of flowers are surrounded by a matching rosette of eye-catching bracts that grow to a clump over 2-5 years. Astrantia Florence is a perennial which grows to a height of 80cm and spreads to approximately 50cm. Suitable for clay, loam, sand and chalk this Astrantia emerges in Spring with a profusion of green, palmate leaves. The flowers follow from June to August. Like most Astrantia it is ideally suited to a moist but well drained soil in a sheltered position with full sun or partial shade of any aspect. Astrantia Florence is fully hardy so does not need any protection in winter; just remove the dead foliage to keep it neat and tidy. Furthermore, this Astrantia has the RHS plants for pollinators award so the bees will love it almost as much as you do.
