Preferring moist, fertile soil in sun or partial shade, they will tolerate drier areas if given a layer of mulch. Growing to a height of 75cm and spread of 50cm, astrantia will attract bees, pollinators, and wildlife all summer and the flowers are perfect for cutting. A beautiful addition to borders and pots and ideal for growing under shrubs, cut back after flowering for a late crop of foliage and flowers. Completely dying back in the autumn, fresh new growth will appear in the spring.
