Astrantia major 'Buckland' forms clumps or mounds of fascinating flowers from June through to August each year. Blooms are frothy, pale-pink and white (often tipped and marked with green). The actual bloom forms a central, pincushion which is surrounded by colourful and prettily marked bracts in a ruff-like formation. If plants are cut right back after their first flowering they may well blooms again later the same year.Astrantia major 'Buckland' carries its blooms on strong, wiry stems which are excellent for fresh or dried arrangements. Foliage is held from March to October, adding groundcover and weed-suppression as well as a valuable source of nectar for bees and other pollinators. Will happily thrive in a container as well as an herbaceous border.Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. A fully-hardy, herbaceous perennial which will reach a height of 90cm with a spread of 65cm.
