Dramatic pops of purple-pink illuminate shady spots Abundant, feathery blooms are held on tall, strong stems throughout July and August. Astilbe ‘Gloria Purpurea’ also has feathery, verdant foliage which is retained from March right through to October for ground covering, weed suppression alongside gap-filling interest. Happy to grow in containers, open ground or even at the edge of a pond, plants are pollinator and wildlife friendly with the added bonus of the ability to naturalise in the right conditions. Not only are they great for your garden, flowers will bring their beautifully soft, misty impact to vases and floral arrangements inside your home too. Plant Astilbe ‘Gloria Purpurea’ in moist, well-drained soil of any kind except sandy. This is a fully-hardy, herbaceous perennial which does not need winter protection throughout the UK . Plant in partial sun or full shade where it grows to a maximum height of 80cm with a spread of 60cm.
