Unusual, two-toned blooms for six months of the year, tropical in appearance yet fully hardy perennials that will survive cold winter temperatures and reappear each and every year. A much loved, fascinating plant that flowers intensely from the first days of summer right through to late autumn. One of the best cut flowers for a vase, lasting up to 14 days or more. In fact, it is essential that you pull the flower, if only as they fade, because the resulting wound initiates new flowers to grow - and the more you pull, the more they flower. Alstroemeria are so easy to look after and are bothered by very few pests, preferring to be grown in a sheltered position in well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Chinon and Longue grow to a height in maturity of between 70-90cm and are fully hardy (H6) to -20C, whilst Nicolas is more compact reaching 50cm tall and is hardy (H5) to -15C. All varieties will gradually spread to between 30-40cm width.
