Armeria maritima Splendens is small and beautifully packaged. Above neat clumps of evergreen, lush, grass-like foliage, clusters of bright pink lollipop-like blooms appear profusely from May until August and as they fade into the autumn, papery seedheads follow giving extra winter interest. Catching the eye of bees and butterflies who adore the nectar filled blooms and visit for closer inspection. Extremely versatile, resilient, and happy at the edge of cottage garden borders, exposed coastal gardens, rockeries or in a modern planting scheme. Perfect too for troughs and pots. Can be cut for pretty posies, vases, and arrangements. Armeria maritima Splendens prefers a situation which benefits from well-drained soil in full sun and are drought tolerant once their roots have established. Tough, undemanding, and easy to maintain. No pruning is necessary; however, deadheading may encourage more flowering. Grows to a height of 20cm and spread 30cm. Rated H5 by the RHS, so classified as a hardy perennial down to -15 C.
