New breeding has produced Alstroemeria Majestic ‘Maze’, a very special variety with large heads of delightful white flowers, each petal tinged green and splashed with dark reddish pink markings - a truly stunning combination. Producing up to 100 blooms when established, between June and October, your home and garden will be filled with stems which last up to 14 days in a vase. Easy to grow, Alstroemeria are bothered by very few pests. Just remember to pick or deadhead by pulling the flower stems gently from the bottom of the plant. The resulting ‘wound’ then initiates new flowers so the more you pick, the more flowers grow. Originating from South Africa, Alstroemeria form fleshy tubers beneath the ground which increase each year to make an impressive clump of attractive foliage. Alstroemeria represents friendship in the world of flowers, so they make a fabulously meaningful gift too. Each of the six petals represent a reminder of respect, commitment, humour, patience, understanding and empathy. Alstroemeria Majestic ‘Maze’ prefers to be grown in any moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or partial shade. Plants mature to a height of 90cm and spread to 50cm. Being a hardy (H5) herbaceous perennial, these beauties will die back during winter, to re-emerge the following spring.
