The most well-known Aquilegia is Nora Barlow, now have a look at one of her attractive younger sisters. The double rich lilac flower heads, nod in the breeze above her layered petticoats of lacy grey green foliage throughout spring and summer. Charming, delicate blooms hanging atop long graceful stems and lacey foliage are nudged gently by warm breezes from May to July, bringing a fabulous range of early colour to your borders and containers. Don't be fooled by their appearance, these beauties are tougher than they look! Despite her delicate appearance, Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata Pink Barlow is robust and easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil, in sun or part shade. If left to go to seed, Aquilegia will self-seed around your garden, or alternatively, collect the seed to sow and raise more plants the following year. Growing to a height of 90cm and spreading to around 30-45cm - an excellent addition to your early season garden.
