Tell Me More...
Anemone coronaria Lord Lieutenant is a gorgeous semi-double anemone which provides a perfect companion to Anemone coronaria Mount Everest. The blooms consist of at least 3 rows of purple-blue petals surrounding a velvet deep purple centre on these poppy-like anemonies creating a voluptuous flower. The ferny foliage complements the blooms perfectly to create a stunning display. Anemones or wind flowers are named after the Greek "daughter of the wind". Their flowers are perfectly angled to wave in the wind. Plant these corms in June/July for a splash of showy blooms in April/May. Lord Lieutenant prefers to be planted in well-drained but moist soils in a sunny but sheltered spot in the garden. These showy anemones make excellent cut flowers for a vase or bouquet and are long-lasting in the garden. Once they have finished flowering clumps can be divided. Perfect to grow as a statement piece in an attractive container.
