Tell Me More...
Anemone blanda Violet Star is a venerated violet cousin of the winter windflower with adorable daisy-like flowers and a compact, cushion forming habit.Carpets of quick growing fern-like foliage are enveloped by violet, cup-shaped, daisy-like blooms in spring. The bright yellow centres are a welcome sight after the cold winter days when grown in attractive containers or at the front of borders. Also known as Grecian windflower due to the Greek for 'daughter of the wind'. It is a RHS award-winning bloom. Anemones are easy to maintain as long as they are planted in well-drained but moist soil. They enjoy full sun and prefer to be sheltered from wind. The corms naturalise easily and create drifts of violet colour for years to come. Anemone blanda Violet Star is a short anemone, reaching a height of approximately 10cm, but is sure to bring plenty of spring cheer. These flowers are perfect to use as cut flowers and will bloom again once cut.
