Tell Me More...
Named after the Olympian goddess of love and beauty, Amarine belladiva 'Aphrodite' will give you a breathtaking display every autumn. A cross between Amaryllis and Nerines, Amarine bring heavenly hues and fabulous fragrance to your borders and containers. Bred specifically for the cut flower industry, the lily-like, trumpet-shaped blooms are larger than those of nerines and are far more striking too. Forming sprays, with wavy re-curved petals, up to 10 blooms are held on each leafless stems in late summer and into the autumn. A hardy tuberous perennial, coping with temperatures down to around -10°C, Amarine belladiva ‘Aphrodite’ prefers to be grown in very well-drained soil in a sunny position, avoiding any winter wet. Reaching a height of 45-60cm, clumps of strap-shaped foliage will be formed, each spreading to around 30cm.
