Tell Me More...
Originating from the stony slopes and scrub of Columbia and Peru, Alonsoa meridionalis ‘Rebel’ is a bushy, robust, half-hardy perennial which is frequently grown as an annual in the UK. Prized for its free-flowering habit, it will make a valuable addition to your summer and autumn garden. Masses of sizzling blooms are produced from June until October, offering delicate yet striking, orange-scarlet flowers. These provide a rich, warm, bright display of summer colour, borne above toothed, ovate to lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. Perfectly suited to planting in containers or using as a summer bedding plant in a mixed border. Alternatively, ‘Rebel’ can be grown all year round in a temperate conservatory, in which case a winter-flowering habit is likely. Prefers any fertile, well-drained loam or sandy soil in full sun. Grows to a height of 60cm, with a spread of 40cm. Alonsoa meridionalis ‘Rebel’ is a half-hardy perennial (tolerant of temperatures down to -5°C) and can be grown throughout
