Allium ursinum produces multitudes of rounded flowerheads from April to June each year. Perfect for woodland planting where its dense, weed-suppressing carpets will readily naturalise, with foliage retained right through to August. Ideal for using as a cut flower with delicate looking starry flowers which have a long vase life. Plants are also fabulous for pulling in pollinators. Allium ursinum has seen something of a revival and, nowadays, is also appreciated for its medical and culinary qualities. Foliage emits a slightly oniony fragrance when crushed and has a multitude of uses. They are a favourite in RHS Show Gardens where their dual purpose is much celebrated. Allium ursinum is drought tolerant and happy even in poor soils preferring well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. A hardy bulbous perennial that can be left, undisturbed over winter to sprout again the following spring.
