Exotic-looking and intriguing, Allium siculum is one of the most unusual blooms in the allium family. This Mediterranean beauty boasts loose umbels of bell-shaped, creamy blooms, lightly flushed with pink and green. Clusters of flowers are held on tall, strong stems reaching up to 1.2m - creating an impressive display from June to July each year. Also commonly known as Sicilian Honey Garlic and Mediterranean Bells, the blooms are sweetly scented and make an excellent cut flower for your home. As flowers fade, they gradually curve upwards, forming shuttlecock-like seedheads which make an excellent inclusion in dried flower displays. Allium siculum flowers are much visited by pollinators, particularly bumblebees. Grow in bold drifts for maximum impact or intersperse in the garden for rhythm and cohesion over larger areas. Prefer a moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, plants are drought tolerant once established. A hardy, bulbous perennial.
