Allium Globemaster is a RHS award-winning allium which will create a stunning display in any garden. Clusters of small star-shaped purple flowers combine to form a spherical ball, up to 20cm across, which tops long green stems above low, strap-like foliage. Perfect to add architectural interest in the middle of a border, bulbs can also be potted into a large container as these bulbs are easy to grow and to maintain. Alliums grow well in a mix of soil types as long as they are well-drained. They prefer to be in sunny garden spots partial sun at least, with some protection from the wind. The blooms are long-lasting both in the garden and as a cut flower in a vase. Allium Globemaster bulbs are usually available in autumn for September-October planting and flower in June-July. Once they have finished flowering, clumps can be divided to create new interest elsewhere in the garden or leave to naturalise. Alliums are attractive to pollinators.
