This is certainly an eye-catching tree and is sure to draw admiring comments from friends and neighbours, particularly when in bursts into bloom during August and September. Albizia julibrissin produces joyful, fluffy pink blooms (which are similar to the bottlebrush plant) along with a delicately fruity, floral fragrance. Flowers provide a feast for the bees and other pollinators as well as a feast for the eyes. Even when not in flower this is an exotic looking tree - with fern-like foliage borne from April to November each year. When mature, Albizia julibrissin will add a majestic and architectural impact to your garden. A native of China, these trees prefer a spot with well-drained soil in full sun, preferably along with a south or west facing aspect. As it matures branches can be easily trained to grow up a wall if you wished where added protection can be gained. A hardy, deciduous tree which can tolerate temperatures down to -15 C without any additional winter protection. Matures to a height of 8 metres with a spread of 4 metres over 10-20 years.
