Tell Me More...
An intriguing groundcover plant which produces masses of densely packed, glossy, rich purple/green leaves throughout the year. Foliage of Ajuga reptans 'Braun Herz' is perfectly complemented by vibrant blue flower spikes from May to June which stand out dramatically above the dark foliage. The nectar-rich flowers are adored by pollinators, especially bees, who find them irresistible. Ajuga reptans 'Braun Herz' is a variant of the wild bugle and will quickly form a carpet of attractive foliage ideal for filling out a shaded area or planting under larger shrubs. Not only will this add visual interest - it will serve as a weed-suppressant too. Plant this superb evergreen where it can creep happily over the edge of a pathway or flowerbed, adding texture and depth to an area which might otherwise be difficult to plant up.As a hardy, low-growing perennial Ajuga reptans 'Braun Herz' will reach an eventual height of 20cm with a wide spread of 90cm. Once established plants will easily naturalise if given soil which remains moist and benefits from part to full shade.
