Tell Me More...
Your Ajuga reptans collection boasts attractive, evergreen, weed-suppressing foliage, and stunning wands of blooms in summer. The name reptans comes from the Latin verb for 'creeping'. Unsurprisingly, your semi-evergreen plant provides excellent ground cover as it 'creeps' over your garden bed or rockery. This collection comprises; reptans 'Black Scallop' - masses of densely packed, glossy, almost-black leaves which are complemented by vibrant violet-blue flower spikes from mid to late spring, height 20cm, spread 90cm; reptans 'Burgundy Glow' - a low-growing carpet of glossy, silvery-green leaves with creamy borders and wine-red splodges mature to a deep bronze in autumn - blue-purple flower spikes from June to August; and reptans 'Caitlin's Giant' - an RHS award winning, semi-evergreen variety which creates a short mat of large, glossy, purple-bronze leaves with erect spikes of deep blue, 2-lipped flowers from April to June.A collection of fully hardy perennials which will thrive in a sheltered, partly sunny spot with most moist, well-drained soil.
