Adaptable flowers which naturalise and bring sculpted, hood-like blooms – reminiscent of pixie hats, or hooded robes from which they take one of their common names. Large, captivating, almost tubular petals are borne in cooling hues from July through to August or September each year. Borne on branching spires above divided, glossy foliage – these beauties will bring enduring interest to pots, open ground and woodland gardens. They can also be cut for a vase but do take care to wear gloves as direct contact with the skin should be avoided.
