Achillea Moonshine is one of the brightest Achillea, and also one of the brightest perennials. Your borders and containers will be awash with an ever-changing tapestry of colour from May to October. Moonshine produces huge, bright yellow, plate-like flowerheads, each created by masses of tiny blooms, that will cut horizontally through your borders. An often-welcome contrast to the more usual rounded or spiked flower shapes. Excellent as cut stems for the vase in fresh arrangements or dried for alternative creations. Also known as 'Soldiers Wound Wart' after Achilles reputedly used it to heal his soldier's wounds after the siege of Troy. Historically it has been used for many complaints from nose bleeds to thrombosis. Achillea are both rabbit and slug resistant but the nectar-rich blooms are much loved by bees and butterflies. Not fussy on soil conditions as long as it is well-drained, Achillea are happy in sun or partial shade. Being herbaceous, fully hardy perennials, they will thrive outside for you to enjoy for years to come with no winter protection required. Dying back in winter they will sprout again in spring.
