Abelia Sherwood is an easy grow variety of Abelia. This is relatively compact compared to other Abelias and produces glossy dark green foliage, which turns a slight shade of bronze in autumn. During the warm summer month clusters of perfumed, white tubular trumpet-shaped blooms appear. The flowers change colour over the months, graduating to light pink and then to bright pink. The blooms have a sweet honey fragrance and are attractive to butterflies. A perfect plant for a sunny area in your garden. Being semi-evergreen, Abelia will keep most of its foliage over winter, a warm retreat for wildlife. Abelia Sherwood thrives in borders and can be used as informal hedging and reaches a mature height of 130cm, and spreads to 150cm. Preferring to be grown in moist, well-drained soil, in a sunny aspect, a little shelter from the coldest winds is appreciated. With an RHS hardiness rating of H5, winter protection will not be required throughout most of the UK.
