Description
An exotic and exuberant trio, swept in on the trade winds Zantedeschia are part of the arum, or Araceae, family. These special varieties of plants originate from South Africa to provide you with a sensation that is as popular with florists as it is with gardeners. Much admired for its simple, yet stunning, sculptural form the Zantedeschia 'Captain' Collection 2 will elevate your planting with its perfectly co-ordinated palette of pale pink, ivory and sunset orange red. The three varieties of the Zantedeschia 'Captain' Collection 2 have slender, arrow-shaped green leaves which are mottled with white. The foliage appears in late spring and is followed by elongated buds which unfurl to reveal a single petal, or spathe, with a cream-coloured spadix. The overall appearance is that of a rare and exotic beauty which has sailed across the oceans to add an extra level of richness and colour in your garden. Zantedeschia is a clump-forming, rhizomatous, semi-evergreen perennial which prefers to be planted in full sun or part shade with moist soil (it can even be grown as a pond marginal). Zantedeschia 'Captain' Collection will grow happily in containers or mingle amongst other plants in the border. As plants which enjoy a warm temperate climate (H1c) they will need protection over the winter months and will reach a height of 70cm with a spread of 50cm. Collection comprises: Zantedeschia 'Captain Romance', Zantedeschia 'Captain Trinity' and Zantedeschia 'Captain Ventura'.
