Description

Marvellous summer flowering marginal Veronica beccabunga is a useful, fast-growing British native which makes an excellent edging plant in damper areas of the garden. The green foliage is waxy in appearance and has a trailing habit along with the added benefit of being evergreen. Leaves will last well into the winter, through the frost and ice, to give much appreciated interest around your pond or in your bog garden. In late spring and summer Veronica beccabunga produces tiny, delightful blue flowers (reminiscent of speedwell) which last for weeks at a time. As a fully hardy perennial Veronica beccabunga can withstand temperatures as low H7, or -20 C, and will spread as far as 2m with a height of 20cm when planted in full sun. Choose a site with poorly drained soil and a southerly or westerly aspect for optimum performance.
