Description

Triumph Tulip Chansonette is truly elegant and modern with a contrasting two-tone combination. Royal purple-red, overlapping, pointed petals with pristine white edges, look lily-like as they recurve to show their white centre. Held on strong stems, the blooms appear in April and May. Triumph are the largest group of tulips, the result of crossing Single Early and Darwin varieties. The flowers are usually single and cup-shaped, held on strong stems. Known for being particularly weather resistant, Triumph tulips are able to withstand wind and rain. Tulips are the most-loved spring season blooms both for your garden and as cut flowers to decorate your home as the spring weather warms up after a bleak winter. Once the ultimate symbol of prosperity and wealth. In the 17th century 'Tulipomania' took hold of Holland and in 1637 a single bulb of the rare Tulip Semper Augustus was priced at the same cost as a house on the most fashionable canal in Amsterdam at the time. Luckily, Tulips can now be enjoyed by everyone, as centuries later, breeders are continually working on producing new varieties including many with unusual shades and shapes. Tulips are versatile and happy in borders and containers. Plant Tulip bulbs in the autumn, around 15cm deep in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Tulip Chansonette grows to an approximate height of 50cm and is a hardy bulbous perennial to enjoy for years to come.
