Description

Tulip Captivating clusiana are also known as the Lady Tulip and will introduce graceful elegance into your spring garden. Stunning blooms start bowl-shaped then open wide to become star-shaped with pointed tips. Ideal for colonising in an area of the garden, clusiana tulips spread rapidly and self-sow, just perfect for creating dramatic drifts or planting in grass. You will have many cut flowers for a small vase every spring. Your Captivating clusiana Collection comprises; Tulip clusiana 'Peppermint Stick' - striped petals in deep pink and white once the deep red-pink buds unfold, the colours of a stick of rock; Tulip clusiana var. chrysantha - the 'Golden Lady' herself with up to three blooms on each stem, a strong contrast of buttercup-yellow and deep carmine red. Both Peppermintstick and var.chrysantha have been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Warm weather and better times are heralded by the arrival of the tulip. Tulip bulbs are planted in the autumn before the ground freezes, though planting in containers in January and February can still bring blooms. Seeing the green shoots from a tulip bulb emerging from the once frozen ground gives you optimism and hope.
