Tell Me More...
A robust, upright clump-forming plant which brings an informal mood to your garden with its light airy presence. Thalictrum aquilegifolium 'Splendide' is considered to be one of the easiest plants to grow, the multiple, tall which stems sway in the breeze add valuable height to any garden and will last for many years too. Stems bear masses of frothy-looking, lilac-pink flowers which seem to float above the darker stalks and aquilegia-like foliage. Often thought of as a cottage garden favourite, thalictrum look equally fabulous in most planting schemes where they hold a significant, architectural presence.Said to be named after Thalia, one of the nine Greek patrons of comedy, known as Muses, the names are possibly linked because of the willowy and elegant charm plants bring to the garden and to floral displays in the home.Thalictrum aquilegifolium 'Splendide' will not only draw in admiring eyes; pollinators will also find flowers irresistible. Plants prefer moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Hardy, herbaceous perennials which reach an approximate height of 1.8m with a spread of 75cm.
