Sumptuous Pennisetum Collection

The Sumptuous Pennisetum Collection brings you stylish, sweeping ornamental grasses which hold their foliage between March and November. Later, between July and September, fluffy flowerheads appear in deep and delightful shades of purple and red. Foliage is statuesque - ideal for the mid to back of a border or a container where it will swish and sway in the breeze adding valuable movement to the garden. Sumptuous Pennisetum Collection comprises: a new variety, purpureum 'Princess Caroline' , which reaches a height of 90cm and spreads up to 1.2m; alopecuroides 'Moudry' which flowers between July and August and is a semi-evergreen with a height and spread of 90cm; and AGM holding setaceum 'Rubrum' which grows to 1.5m and spreads up to 1.2m. All prefer well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. As half-hardy perennials plants will require winter protection in colder parts of the UK - either with a thick mulch, horticultural fleece or by growing in a container which can be moved away from frost.
