Description

Although widely cultivated by the Aztecs, it took the invention of pizza to warm Europeans to the delectable tomato. Now it is hard to imagine a summer salad without them. Vigorously-fruiting, your 'Solanum Tomato Shirley' will delight you with generous trusses of medium-sized fruit. Attractive yellow blooms will adorn your plant - much to the interest of visiting pollinators. As early as June, your flowers will develop into rich-red, ripe tomatoes, enchanting you with an abundant supply of fruit all the way to September. This award-winning annual can be grown in a container, garden, greenhouse or growing bag in a sunny, sheltered location. Suitable for warm, temperate conditions, your tender plant will need to be acclimatised in early summer if you plan to keep it outdoors. Plant your ''Solanum Tomato Shirley' in moist, loamy,well-drained soil and tie it to a cane for support as it matures. After your plant first begins to fruit, a fortnightly feed of high potash, liquid fertiliser is recommended. Additionally, your solanum will appreciate regular watering to keep the soil just moist. This solanum will reach a height and spread of 1.5m by 60cm, when fully grown.
