Tell Me More...
Exciting, new and juicy hues, including two larger, stronger stemmed varieties of scabious Scoop which have been bred specifically for the cut flower market. Now available for you to grow in your very own cutting garden as well as borders, gravel gardens or containers. Fern-like fronds of foliage emerge in March and are held to October. Then, from July to September, longer, stronger stems hold the ball-shaped, delicate blooms which grow up to 3.5cm across. Flowers are ready for you to pick them, or simply admire them in situ as scores of pollinators, particularly bees, bob from flower to flower in search of a feast. Fruity Scabiosa Scoop Collection contains five sensational varieties: atropurpurea Blackberry; atropurpurea Marshmallow; and atropurpurea Raspberry which have a height and spread of 60cm x 30cm. Then atropurpurea Focal Scoop Lavender; and atropurpurea Focal Scoop Sweet Cherry which are larger at 90cm x 50cm each. Flowers have frilly outer petals and tightly packed buds at the centre, often accented by white dots - hence the common name of Pincushion flower. Plant in well-drained soil with full sun. Half-hardy, herbaceous perennials which will need protection from frost over winter, either by lifting or mulching.
