Salvia farinacea, commonly referred to as mealy sage, is a herbaceous, half-hardy perennial native to Mexico, Nuevo Leon, and parts of the United States such as Oklahoma and Texas. Strong spires of charmingly coloured flowers stand proud, watching over your borders as they elegantly sway in the wind. They are fantastically weather resistant and flower for an exceptional six months from May until October. Perfect for a cutting garden, often said to resemble Lavender, it compliments any dried or fresh flower arrangement beautifully. Salvia farinacea Violet is a classic deep purple that really catches the eye. Salvia farinacea White is a pure and delicate flower that radiates a calming energy, and Salvia farinacea Arctic Blue is a two toned beauty with hints of an icy purple-blue colour that one would expect to be cold to the touch. Plant in well-drained compost in full sun or light shade.

H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
