Description

A moody mix of maroon Salvia 'Cherry Pie', as the name suggests, produces juicy and intensely coloured blooms from early summer right through into autumn each year. Flowers are open-mouthed and held above dark green, veined foliage with tinges of blueish purple to stems and sepals which further intensifies the impact of the cherry petals. Salvia 'Cherry Pie' is a tough variety which is also extremely floriferous whether planted in full sun or part shade. Perfect for a sunny, sheltered spot and ideal for containers or border edges - where the aromatic foliage can release its fragrance when brushed past or gently caressed by passing traffic. As with most salvias, this variety benefits from being drought tolerant once established and a magnet for bees and other pollinators. Salvia 'Cherry Pie' prefers well-drained soil and a spot with a south or west facing aspect. As a half-hardy, herbaceous perennial it may require a mulch in winter to protect from harsh frosts - dependent upon where you garden in the UK. Plants mature to a height of 90cm, with a spread of 75cm.
