Description
A marvellous mingle of melon, pineapple and tangerine floriferous herbs Salvia are undoubtedly a broad-ranging and versatile plant for the garden and can be part of a beautiful border, perfect patio or a productive element of the kitchen garden. They can be annuals, biennials, herbaceous or evergreen perennials and shrubs. This Sage Fruity Collection contains varieties which are native to Central America. Each of the carefully chosen varieties have a rare, unusual and exciting additional element to them - they have fruity scented foliage which when brushed or crushed releases its delicious perfume over the garden. Classed as herbaceous, half-hardy perennials (or sub shrubs) they will all benefit from protection indoors over winter as they can only tolerate temperatures down to -5 C and will fare much better in a greenhouse or conservatory. Reaching heights of up to 90cm with a spread of between 60-120cm they are drought tolerant and easy-going plants if given the right conditions. Plant in moist, well-drained soil which enjoys any aspect other than north facing. Give your plants a spot in full sun during the growing season to get the most from the scented leaves which are held from March to October. Sage Fruity Collection will also produce tubular shaped, vibrant red blooms held on tall spires between June and October to add even more to their interest in the garden. Collection comprises: Salvia elegans 'Scarlet Pineapple'; Salvia elegans 'Honey Melon', and; Salvia elegans 'Scarlet Tangerine'
