Description

Crocuses provide a blast of colour just as you need it. These miniature bright Spring flowers create a joyous display for you to appreciate. For the hibernating insects emerging from their slumbers, crocuses offer a vital supply of nectar and pollen. However, several varieties of crocus flower in the autumn bidding farewell to the warm days and give you a final encore before winter returns. Here are your three varieties in this delightful Saffron Star Collection - two to flower in the autumn and one in the Spring; Crocus laevigatus 'Fontenayi' - this beautiful dwarf crocus flowers from December to January, has large soft ageratum-violet flowers, is extremely hardy, long lived, and strong; Crocus sativus - fragrant Autumn flowering crocus which has been grown for the expensive spice in Britain since the Tudor times; Crocus speciosus 'Albus' - lovely white goblet flowers produced September to November, often the earliest autumnal crocus to appear. Whatever time of year a crocus flowers, it always raises the spirits.
