Description
For an easy, reliable, late-cropping raspberry, Rubus idaeus 'Autumn Bliss' takes some beating. This much-loved cultivar crops in its first year of growth, bearing a proliferation of large, sweetly flavoured fruit from September right through until the first frosts. Fruits are robust; suitable for both eating fresh and storing in a freezer. The sturdy canes of this plant require no support (providing it is planted in a sheltered location). Indeed, Rubus idaeus 'Autumn Bliss' needs very little care overall, other than cutting down to the ground and mulching each year. Good disease resistance tops off an already impressive list of attributes. Little wonder Rubus idaeus 'Autumn Bliss' is regularly labelled the nation's most popular autumn-fruiting raspberry and holds the RGS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding reliability and performance. Rubus idaeus 'Autumn Bliss' prefers moist, well-drained, neutral to acid soil in a spot which benefits from full sun. A hardy, deciduous shrub which reaches a height of up to 1.8m with individual canes spreading to 60cm.
