Rhodohypoxis are a genus of flowering plants within the Hypoxidaceae family, native to South Africa. They are usually found in moist, rocky habitats. The genus name is derived from the Greek word ‘rhodon’, meaning rose or red; ‘hypo’, meaning below; and ‘oxy’, meaning pointed.
Rhodohypoxis are clump-forming herbaceous perennials with a compact habit and attractive lance-shaped leaves and delicate star-shaped flowers. Rhodohypoxis are best suited to a gravel, container or rock garden.
