Rhododendron is a genus of over 100 species within the Ericaceae family, native to Asia and North America. The first Rhododendron to be classified and named was discovered by the 16th century Flemish botanist, Charles l'Ecluse. It was first introduced to Britain in 1656.
Rhododendron are deciduous or evergreen shrubs or trees with stunning bell-shaped flowers and spectacular foliage with leaves unfurling to show finite silvery hairs. They are either grouped together in attractive clusters or produced as a solitary feature.
