Primula veris Lace Blue

A new, beautifully marked variety of primula with oval, puckered foliage which is retained for most of the year. Primula veris 'Lace Blue' is a dainty, low-growing, eye-catching bloom which looks as if it has been delicately painted at its edges with a white brush. Furthermore, it has a light, sweet fragrance which will drift across the garden whilst it flowers from March to May. Plants thrive in containers, open ground, baskets and rockeries where they bring striking splashes of colour and offer valuable early sustenance to pollinators. Primula flowers have long been a favourite in UK gardens and the 'veris' species are native throughout large swathes of temperate Europe - growing in well-drained, grasslands and meadows throughout the UK. The common cowslip is also part of the primula veris species. Primula veris 'Lace Blue' is certainly a cut above with its distinctive markings and is well worth picking for a posy vase. Plants prefer moist, well-drained soil in partial shade. A hardy, semi-evergreen perennial which reaches a height and spread of 20cm.
