Beautiful and admired, like the famous cultural icon the Mona Lisa, Plectranthus Magic Mona Purple must be seen to be believed. Dark green glossy foliage with intensely purple undersides creates a tidy, dense, rounded bush from which sprays of large, lavender, lipped flowers with beautiful, purple markings appear continually in late summer and into the autumn. A stunning contrast for a truly dramatic display. Bred in the late 1990's by a South African breeder, this fast growing, shrubby perennial is perfect for both borders and containers. Much loved by butterflies and bees, deer tend to leave it alone. Plectranthus Magic Mona Purple performs best when grown in well-drained soil in part shade but will happily cope with some sun too. Reaching an approximate height of 70cm (28') it will spread to around 60-70cm (24-28'). Not fully hardy, Magic Mona Purple will survive some frosts but needs to be moved inside over the coldest periods, making a wonderful house plant.
