Commonly known as the Dwarf Alberta Spruce, Picea Glauca are a fantastic addition to a wintery doorstep. They look fantastic as a pair placed either side of an entrance but also stand proudly alone in a patio planter. The foliage is compact; the needles remain short and tightly packed, but the bright green colour certainly catches the eye. If you choose to keep them in pot, we suggest moist, well-drained, neutral to acidic soil or ericaceous compost. Of course, this tree thrives outside, but if you would like to take it inside at Christmas time, make sure its in a cool, bright room and that it moves back outside as soon as possible when the festivities cease. If you wish to maintain the conifers shape, remove misplaced or diseased leaved each winter. Each Picea Glauca will arrive at a height of around 60-70 cm. This is a very slow growing plant, growing only 2 to 4 inches per year and reaching a mature height of seven feet and width of 3 feet.

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
