Description
Phlox paniculata 'Bright Eyes' has captivating clusters of vibrant pink, five petalled blooms, with dark cerise centres. A beautiful cottage garden favourite, which is at home in almost any planting scheme. Originating in North America, phlox were introduced to Europe in the 1700's. The name stems from the Greek word for 'flame' - perhaps for the way that phlox have shining like torches in our summer gardens for many years. Phlox paniculata 'Bright Eyes' produces showy flowerheads over neat, upright mounds of foliage from June right through to September - all the while releasing a gentle and sweet fragrance. The nectar-rich blooms are also loved by bees and butterflies who are sure to visit your garden for a feast. Phlox also makes an excellent cut flower for your home, lasting well in a vase. Phlox paniculata 'Bright Eyes' is a fully hardy perennial which requires no winter protection and is slug resistant too. Plant in almost any soil, except waterlogged, in a spot which benefits from full sun or part shade. Reaches a height of 90cm with a spread of 75cm.
