Description

Long-lasting, rosy pink blooms cluster along red stems for architectural interest Spires of hot pink blooms erupt from Penstemon 'Kilimanjaro' from May until October every year above a bed of lush green foliage. Penstemon, known as 'Beard-tongues', are some of the most versatile, valued, and floriferous perennials you can grow in your garden. Great for cutting, they are also adored by bees, butterflies, and pollinators. Penstemon prefer to grow in moist, moderately fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade in any aspect. Drought tolerant once established. Mulch the base of plants in autumn to give extra winter protection in colder areas. Prune stems of spent blooms regularly to encourage more flowers. Leave the semi-evergreen foliage on plants over winter to protect new shoots which emerge early in the season. Prune plants back in spring to about 15cm above ground level. Propagate by division in spring or softwood cuttings in summer. H&S: 75cm x 50cm Penstemon 'Kilimanjaro' is part of the 'Volcano' series of Penstemons - frost hardy (H4) perennial plants which can be grown outside all year round.
